News From the Principal

What a month it’s been—our building has been absolutely buzzing with students learning, creating, and filling every hallway with their energy. I hope everyone enjoyed their mid winter break. I was able to enjoy lots of grandbaby snuggles! And of course, the surprise snow on Friday the 13th was the highlight of the month. The kids loved every minute of that unexpected fun. Now, as the weather starts to warm up, we’re all looking forward to sunshine, fresh air, and all our exciting spring activities ahead.

2026-27 Parent Input Form

As we begin planning for next school year, we invite families to share any information that will help us place your child in a classroom where they can learn, grow, and thrive. While we cannot accept specific teacher requests, we welcome your insights about your child’s learning style, strengths, challenges, peer dynamics, or any other factors you feel are important for us to consider. Your input helps us create balanced classrooms and ensure each student is set up for a successful year.

Caring for Our Students and Community

As events unfold in the Middle East, we recognize that many students, staff, and families may be experiencing stress, grief, or uncertainty. Our school remains committed to providing a safe, inclusive environment for every child. We are attentive to the diverse backgrounds and experiences within our community, and we know that world events can affect students in different ways. Staff can offer support, including access to counseling, safe spaces, and guidance for managing difficult feelings. We continue to reinforce our antibullying and anti-bias expectations and encourage families to reach out if their child needs additional support or if they have concerns.

Springing Into Health

As the weather begins to shift, we want to keep our Woodmoor Dolphins healthy and ready to learn! Here are a few quick reminders for the month of March:

  • The 24-Hour Rule: We are still seeing some seasonal illnesses. Please remember that if your student has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, they must be symptom-free for full 24 hours (without the use of medication) before returning to school.
  • Allergy Season is Arriving: If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, now is a great time to check in with your pediatrician. It can sometimes be tricky to tell the difference between a spring cold and "hay fever," so keep an eye out for itchy eyes and sneezing.
  • Dress in Layers: March weather in the PNW is unpredictable! Please ensure your student has a jacket for outdoor recess, as mornings can still be quite chilly even if the sun comes out later.

In honor of National Nutrition Month, we are encouraging students to try snacks that combine protein and fiber to keep their energy steady. Here is one for you to try!!

"Ants on a Log"

  • The Recipe: Spread celery sticks with nut butter (or sunbutter for a nut-free option) and top with raisins.
  • Why it works: It’s crunchy, sweet, and packed with the fuel they need for a long afternoon of learning!

Questions? > Please feel free to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child’s health or need to update medical plans.

Kindergarten Tours

 Welcome, Future Woodmoor Dolphins!

We’re excited to invite all incoming kindergarten families to join us for a guided tour of Woodmoor Elementary. This is a wonderful chance to get to know our school community, explore the campus, and get a feel for what kindergarten looks like at Woodmoor.

We’ll be hosting two tour opportunities:

  • Monday, March 23 at 10:00 AM
  • Tuesday, March 31 at 2:00 PM

During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to walk through the school, peek into our kindergarten classrooms, and participate in a Q&A session with Principal Johnson, who will be happy to share insights and answer your questions. No registration is needed—just come by and say hello.

If you know other families with upcoming kindergarteners please share this information.

We can’t wait to meet you and help your family begin this exciting new chapter at Woodmoor.
